At the Milford City Council meeting Oct. 18, Trisha Burke, Executive Director of the Clermont Counseling Center located in Milford, asked for the support of residents and officials to help pass the new operating levy for the Mental Health Board. Burke gave a detailed description of the endeavors of the Mental Health Board in hopes of clarifying the necessity of the .2 mil increase they are asking for.

The Clermont County Mental Health and Recovery Board is seeking a .2 mil increase to the .5 mil levy currently in operation. The levy will appear as issue 7 on the Nov. 8 ballot.

The Clermont County Mental Health & Recovery Board serves the community through the operations of its three facilities. The Clermont Counseling Center serves adults with mental health issues and Child Focus serves children in the same fashion. The board also provides substance abuse recovery treatment through the Clermont Recovery Center. Burke estimated that one out of every five people will have a mental illness at some point in their life.
