Can someone please pass the salt?
Contestants in the first annual Clermont County Biggest Tomato contest vied Aug. 19 to see who could grow the greatest of the great and the biggest of the big, while everyone else just came to enjoy the free salsa and see some really big tomatoes.
Gary Gao, OSU Extension Horticulturist, said that he initially worried about how the weather would affect the reddening contestants.
The winners pictured are, from left to right, eighth to first place, Brenda Plante, Hannah Wagner, Virginia Steward, Vernon Wagner, Bill Sweeney, Cody Carlier, Charles Pratt, Daphne Carlier and sponsor Don Myers.
