The fruit industry, it seems, has been making a comeback in Clermont County. After having once been known as the largest fruit-producing area of the nation, prior to Florida becoming a state, fruit production in the county dwindled over the years, but a few dedicated farmers have cultivated the tradition. Tim Downey, owner of Lakeside Vineyard, is hoping to bring his own style of fruit production back to Clermont County through grapes and the eventual creation of a full-production winery.
The vineyard, located near Felicity, was originally bought on a whim, but according to Downey, turned out to be perfect for grapes.
Lynn and Tim Downey are the owners of Lakeside Vineyard.
