Debate continues over Milford
The city of Milford held a public meeting on July 11 to discuss the implementation of its proposed Tree City program.
The Community Development Committee played host to a small but vocal crowd who expressed their individual concerns over the taxation process which will accompany the program.
Council members who support the acquisition of the Tree City title stressed the positive aspects of the program in the face of staunch questioning from the audience. Benefits and services such as aesthetic integrity, regular maintenance of the trees, continual replacement of downed or previously removed trees, and the alleviation of hazardous trees, were all points of focus. A Tree City program would allow such services to take place without individual residents having to incur the total cost.
