Woman struck and killed on SR 125

Two motor-vehicle accidents in Clermont County on the night of June 28 are currently under investigation by the Batavia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The two separate accidents resulted in the death of one Amelia woman and the serious injury of a New Richmond man.

At approximately 10:55 p.m. on SR 125 just east of Amelia in Batavia Township, Anna Smalley, 29, was walking west in the middle of the road, wearing all dark clothing. According to an OSHP press release, Smalley was struck by three successive cars, resulting in her death. The first vehicle was driven by Karen Goodrich, 35, of Bethel; the second by Wallace Dalton Jr., 18, of Amelia; and the third by Jeremy Dees, 30, of Amelia. None of the three drivers were injured in the incident.

The crash remains under investigation, with a large stretch of SR 125 remaining closed for four hours after the incident. According to the press release, Smalley had a history of mental illness and may have been under the influence of medications at the time of her death.
